Sumter P-15 Baseball History
Sumter Post 15 has sponsored a team every year since 1929, just four years after the American Legion began sponsoring a nationwide youth baseball program. Sumter is the only Post to have sponsored a team in South Carolina since its inception in the Palmetto State. According to research at the national level Sumter has the second oldest program in the American Legion.

Riley Park
Riley Park is home to the Sumter P-15s. It was named after Legionnaire John J. Riley. Riley not only served as the athletic director and head coach for the first 16 years of the program; he also played a major role in the construction of Riley Park. He was elected to United States House of Representatives in 1945. Riley Park was named to honor him in 1947.
American Legion Sr. State Tournament
Make plans to come out to Riley Park to cheer on your Sumter P-15’s! The Sr. P-15’s will start the state tournament Monday, July 29 at Riley Park. First pitch will be at 7:30. This will be the LAST home game of the season. Wednesday’s games will be played at the Fireflies Stadium in Columbia.
